Wood Tender

If you are interested in bidding for all the wood which is deposited by Shrewsbury Town Council from the 1st November 2015 to 31st October 2016 at the STC recycling point at the golf course then please submit a bid to in a sealed envelope by midday Friday 20th November 2015.

For information, all trees which fall under ownership and contracts run by Shrewsbury Town Council are deposited in the state felled at the recycling centre. The wood varies in quality, some is dead and rotten, others are high quality and includes both softwood and hardwood which have been part of a tree management process, high winds and storms tend to increase the amount of wood deposited but no year is the same and there is no tonnage guarantee.

Please note a long chainsaw and trailer will be required as a minimum to remove the wood from the site, as will there be an expectation that you make regular journeys to ensure the wood pile is kept to a minimum. The majority of the wood will also need storing for use next year.

For guidance only previous amounts received have been £250+ often where neighbours have clubbed together, or enterprising businesspeople who then resell. The wood will need chain sawing at site to remove it as it is not logged. Conservatively, as a minimum it is usually several years supply for 1 home using a back boiler system for central heating and water, lots more if stormy.

The highest tender wins, on the basis that a general competence test is met as this is also a working site. Any questions please ask Mike Pugh on 01743 257661 or emailmike.pugh-stc@shropshire.gov.uk
