New Faces at Shrewsbury Market Hall

Two new businesses selling a range of artisan beers and homemade cakes have launched at Shrewsbury Market Hall.

Beer Me Up Scotty and The Dandelion Clock have joined the vibrant market, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Beer Me Up Scotty, run by 30-year-old Dominic Mason, offers a range of obscure and hard-to-find beers and ales, as well as local specialties.

“The market is a great place to start a business,” said Dom.

“It offers a fantastic footfall, has a great vibe, and is competitively priced when you consider all of your overheads are included.”

Beer Me up Scotty is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am until 4pm. For more information visit www.beermeupscotty.co.uk or call Dom on 07958 529469.

Another new face to the market is Mandy West, whose business, The Dandelion Clock, offers a scrumptious selection of homemade cakes and pastries.

Mandy, 48, prides herself on using only the best quality ingredients which she says makes all the difference.

“Quality ingredients equal a quality taste,” she says.

“I make everything myself, exactly the way I would if I were making it for my family and friends. I use fresh produce, proper ingredients, and bake everything from scratch.

“Everything seems to be going really well in the market, I already have some regular customers and often sell out of products before the day is out.”

The Dandelion Clock is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am until 3.30pm. For more information, or for special requests and orders, call Mandy on 07757 026985.

Shrewsbury Market Hall celebrates its 50th anniversary this year having first opened its doors on September 16, 1965.

The market is located under the town’s iconic clocktower and boasts a vibrant mix of eclectic stalls selling a range of goods from traditional fruit, vegetables, fish and meat to authentic Thai food, champagne and oysters, vintage wares, clothes, books, trinkets, handmade jewellery and more.

It is jointly run by Shropshire Council, which is responsible for the permanent stalls located around the perimeter of the market floor and gallery, and Shrewsbury Town Council which manages the canopied stalls in the centre.

The main trading days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with a select few stalls open on Thursday mornings.
