Venue Change for Council Meetings

Shrewsbury Town Council will be holding its council and committee meetings at a different venue as work to prepare the Guildhall for its first raft of students in September is now underway.

The Council is currently based at the Guildhall, where it will remain for the time being. However all of its various committee meetings, which are open to the public, will be held at Rowley’s House, on Barker Street, until further notice.

Sessions will be held in either the Baxter or Shrewsbury rooms.

Full details for each meeting can be found on the Town Council website at www.shrewburytowncouncil.gov.uk

Helen Ball, Town Clerk said: “Whilst the Town Council will remain at the Guildhall for the time being, it has been necessary to make alternative arrangements for our council and committee meetings now that work to transform the Guildhall has begun. We felt it important that our meetings, which are open to the press and public, remain easily accessible and within the town centre – Rowley’s House ticks both of these boxes. Staff at the site, which is now managed by the University, have been hugely accommodating and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for making us feel so welcome.”
