Summer Season Announced for Quarry Bandstand

A summer season of music events is starting to take shape for Shrewsbury’s Quarry bandstand.

A number of free events are now confirmed for the months of May, June and July.

Kicking off the season is Sometime Wonder Amplified Acoustic on May 1, from 3pm until 5.30pm.

Then, on May 8, Shrewsbury Concert Band will be entertaining audiences from 2.30pm until 4.30pm followed by City of Chester Band on May 22 from 1pm until 3pm.

Bringing the programme into June is Sabrina Brass on June 4, from 1pm until 3pm.

Then on June 5, Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass Band take to the bandstand for two performances from 2.30pm until 3.15pm and 3.45pm until 4.40pm.

Salopian Brass follow on June 12, with Wem Jubilee Band on July 10 and Percussion Unlimited on July 17. Times to be confirmed.

Mike Cox, Outdoor Recreation and Asset Manager for Shrewsbury Town Council said: “We are pleased to announce a series of summer music events for the Quarry’s bandstand. All events are free for spectators and people are welcome to bring along their own chairs and picnics to make the most of these live music shows.”

Stella Wilcox, Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass Band secretary said: “We are delighted to be playing the bandstand in Shrewsbury’s beautiful Quarry. The experience and musicianship of our players enables means they are equally at home on the indoor concert stage, or in the open air. Under the guidance of our musical director, Mike Amplett, the quality of the music is exemplary and the musical feeling it passes to the audience leaves nothing but a smile in its place when it has ended.”
