Status Quo to Rock Shrewsbury’s Quarry

Nevermind ‘Rocking All Over The World,’ legendary performers, Status Quo, have confirmed a one-night only show at Shrewsbury’s very own Quarry this summer.

The band will deliver their iconic brand of rock & roll on July 15.

With world-wide sales in excess of 118 million units and 22 Top-Ten, British hit singles the Quo celebrated their 45th anniversary in 2010 and still they maintain a hectic annual tour schedule, voted the hardest working band by PRS for the past two years.

It is estimated that they have played to over 24 million people in 5,500 live shows and at Shrewsbury the promoters IML anticipate another great crowd.

Keith Louch, Director of IML, said: “We have presented concerts in Shrewsbury for the past five summers and are absolutely delighted to be bringing Status Quo to The Quarry. They are, without any doubt, a world-class act and I am sure the crowds who have so loyally supported our shows since 2006, will again be excited by the news of this gig.”

Mike Cox, Outdoor Recreation and Asset Manager for Shrewsbury Town Council, which administers the Quarry, added: “We are delighted to have secured one of the greatest names in rock & roll to play at The Quarry and we are sure the event will be a great success.”

Status Quo singles’ hits include Caroline, Rocking All Over The World, Down Down, What You’re Proposing, Rain, Break The Rules, Paper Plane, Whatever You Want, Roll Over Lay Down….the list goes on – and you’ll hear them all at The Quarry.

In total the band have recorded 64 British hit singles – more than any other band – 22 of which have hit the Top Ten. The first hit was Pictures of Matchstick Men which reached Number Seven in January 1968. In addition the Quo have had 31 hit albums on the Album Charts, more than any band except The Rolling Stones.

Experiencing a Status Quo concert should definitely be on everyone’s ‘To Do’ list and The Quarry audience will not leave disappointed.

So grab your friends and create a group, bring a picnic and get ready to rock & roll at an unforgettable night which will end with a spectacular fireworks finale.
