Something Old and New at Shrewsbury Market Hall

Something old and new will be making its way to Shrewsbury Market Hall this week.

The shopping complex will play host to a daily vintage flea market from May 26 – 28.

The event follows hot-on-the-heels of two successful vintage weekends held at the venue, hosted by the Bird’s Nest Café.

This three-day vintage flea market is being organised by Bird’s Nest duo Aaron Brown and Victor Deng, and Sam Pooley of I Love Compost.

The flea market will complete an already impressive line up of retro inspired and pastiche stalls in the market’s self proclaimed ‘vintage corner’ and will include homeware and specialist clothing.

There will also be live music on Friday and Saturday, as well as cupcakes for sale and free taster sessions for Compost Kids art workshops, which are to be launched officially in June, by Sam Pooley.

Aaron Brown, from the Bird’s Nest said: “There is a real buzz around the Market Hall lately.

“The first two vintage weekends went down really well so this time around we have teamed up with various local vintage sellers, including Vintage Gem’s and Dogeared Vintage, to bring you a bigger and better flea market for three whole days.

“We have also booked three live acts so come on down, listen to some tunes, have a coffee and grab yourself some vintage finds.”

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the Market Hall added: “There is a real hive of activity going on in the market at the moment and it is great to see the two worlds of old and new collide in what is fast becoming our ‘vintage hub.’

“It is great to see our new traders so enthused and I look forward to seeing what they come up with next.”
