Shropshire Landscape Scenes at Shrewsbury Market Hall

A collection of paintings featuring scenes of Shropshire landscapes is the latest to launch at Shrewsbury Market Hall.

The exhibition, Shropshire Landscape Paintings by Diane Murr, opened on Tuesday [29 NOV] at the Visual Art Network Gallery, on the upper level of the Market Hall, and runs until December 10.

The exhibition is the first for the Shropshire-born artist, who grew up on a farm near Cardington.

The collection of paintings reflects her experiences of this landscape.

In creating her landscape scenes, Mrs Murr has been supported by art group Moor Art 2.

Mrs Murr said: “I have always drawn inspiration from the beautiful Shropshire countryside. I count myself lucky to have easy access to the endless variety of shapes and colours to be found in the local landscape, be it a springtime walk through Helmeth Wood in Church Stretton, a mid-summer scramble up the sides of Carding Mill Valley or an October drive from Broome to Acton Burnell.”

The exhibition is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am until 4pm.

There will be a chance to meet the artist at an official lunchtime launch this Saturday [3 DEC] at 12 noon.

The Market Hall Art Gallery is run by volunteers from the charity Visual Art Network. See www.vanetwork.co.uk for further details.

Sales from the gallery go to the artist and the charity.
