Shrewsbury Residents Invited to Attend Annual Town Meeting

Shrewsbury residents are invited to attend the Annual Town Meeting next week.

The event is being held on April 28 at 6pm, at the Guildhall, and will be followed by the inaugural meeting of the Shrewsbury-wide Local Joint Committee.

The meeting is open to any elector from the 17 wards that make up the Shrewsbury Town Council area to raise any matter of interest or concern to the town.

During the meeting, members of the Town Council will also outline the organisation’s work over the past 12 months.

Topics already on the agenda include flooding and public toilets, as well as an update on issues raised at the 2010 Annual Town Meeting.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Peter Nutting said: “The Annual Town Meeting is a great opportunity for local people to get involved with shaping their community. It is a chance to meet with councillors and raise any issues, no matter how big or small, by working together we can hopefully resolve them and make Shrewsbury an even better place to live, work and visit.

“This year’s Annual Town Meeting is being followed by the first ever Shrewsbury-wide Local Joint Committee meeting which gives local people even more opportunity to have their say about the town they live in. The LJC will follow immediately after the Annual Town Meeting, and is being held in the same venue.”
