Shrewsbury in Bloom Joins Twitter

A new Twitter page has been launched by Shrewsbury in Bloom featuring live feeds and hints and tips for green-fingered residents.

Committee members are hoping to get as many followers as possible by the time RHS Britain in Bloom judges visit the town on August 5.

People can follow the page @ShrewsBloom

Shrewsbury in Bloom chairman, Jackie Brennand said: “Your @ShrewsBloom needs you! Our closest rival, Bath, has around 375 followers on Twitter but we want more than that. Help us get as many followers as possible by August 5 and spread the word.”

Shrewsbury town centre has recently been transformed into a riot of colour, with staff working round the clock to complete the summer planting scheme.

Thousands of colourful blooms have now been planted out around town in the many hanging baskets, tubs and floral beds, with more than 20,000 plants alone apportioned for Shrewsbury’s 365-days-a-year show garden in the Dingle.

Judges will visit the town in July, for the regional Heart of England competition, and again in August for Britain in Bloom when the many floral arrangements, and Incredible Edible displays, will be adjudicated against exacting criteria.
