Shrewsbury’s green-fingered residents are invited to enter the newly revamped Town of Flowers competition.
This year, the Shrewsbury in Bloom committee is calling on members of the public to nominate entries for the best residential front garden category. Previously entrants had been able to nominate their own garden displays.
The competition is open to residents’ front gardens only and must be located within Shrewsbury Town Council’s 17 wards.

Entries should be submitted to debbie.entwistle-stc@shropshire.gov.uk, or by post to: Shrewsbury in Bloom Town of Flowers Competition, Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, SY3 8HR, by midday Friday 15th July.
Judging will then take place in August.
Entries for this year’s business category will be nominated by members of the Bloom committee and Town Council officers, self-nominations will not be accepted.
Councillor Keith Roberts, chairman of the Shrewsbury in Bloom committee said: “We have decided to simplify the Town of Flowers nomination process in a bid to open up the competition to more people than ever before. So if your neighbour is a budding botanist, or your father-in-law is a chief cultivator, we want to hear all about their blooming great gardens!”
Shrewsbury in Bloom is a non-profit committee which brings together interested groups and individuals to implement a programme for Shrewsbury’s floral enhancement, environmental improvements and community projects. It is the driving force behind Shrewsbury’s annual entry into the Heart of England in Bloom competition.
