Shrewsbury residents are invited to attend this year’s Annual Town Meeting which is being held next week.
The event takes place at the Gateway Education Centre in Chester Street on Monday [MAY 22] from 7pm and is open to residents who live within the council’s 17 wards.
The session provides an opportunity to raise questions on matters affecting the town of Shrewsbury and learn of the work undertaken by councillors over the last twelve months and to meet newly elected members.
There will also be presentations from key partners in the town including Shropshire Council and West Mercia Police. There will also be updates on the work of the Young Shrewsbury Youth Engagement Team.
A further important session will discuss the future of a number of key services which are currently declared as being at risk following Shropshire Council’s recently determined Financial Strategy.
There will be plenty of opportunities for members of the public to ask questions, make contributions and raise any other matters not on the agenda.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Alan Mosley said: “The Town Council and its partners have so much to be proud of following another year with many success stories despite continuing financial pressures. The meeting will give our residents a chance to have their say and to offer their advice in making further progress in the town. We always welcome people’s views on how we can best protect and promote the vital local services which are seriously threatened by the continuing cuts in Shropshire Council’s budget. This represents the biggest challenge for us to maintain the high standards we have all come to expect.”
