Rare Sunday Opening for Market Hall

Shrewsbury’s award-winning indoor market will be holding a rare Sunday opening next month for shoppers to get a head start on their Christmas shopping.

The Sunday Shopping Showcase will see the market open from 10am until 2.30pm on October 16.

A host of cosmopolitan cafes, artisan producers and traditional stalls will be open for an extra day of feasting and shopping for this one-off event which aims to showcase some of the town’s most unique and exclusive traders.

Shoppers can browse a range of eclectic stalls from handmade jewellery, homewares, antiques, artisan bakers and chocolatiers as well as enjoy a leisurely lunch at a range of eateries from Mayuree’s House of Yum, The Market Buffet or Moli Tea House, or a morning latte at the Bird’s Nest Café, followed by a sweet treat from Annie’s Bakery.

There are also a range of traditional fruit and veg stalls and family butchers – perfect for picking up those last-minute Sunday roast essentials.

Suzi Wilkinson, marketing & promotions manager for Shrewsbury Town Council said: “The Shopping Showcase is a rare opportunity to experience all the Market Hall has to offer on a leisurely Sunday. It’s a chance to sample some of the many fine eateries, as well as get a head start on your Christmas shopping – and with Sunday parking at just £1 all day on Shropshire Council car parks it’s a great opportunity to experience all the market has to offer.”

The Market Hall will also be laying on two late night shopping events in the run up to Christmas, opening until 9pm on November 16 as part of the wider Christmas Lights Switch-On event, and December 14 to coincide with Carols in the Square.
