Quarry Play Area Reopens for the Summer

Shrewsbury Town Council has been working towards re-opening the Quarry Splash Park in time for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

The official opening is scheduled to take place on Saturday 29 April at 11.00am.

The design of the play area was chosen by Shrewsbury residents and was opened by the Mayor of Shrewsbury last year.  The play area incorporates traditional play equipment such as slides and swings, as well as fountains and water features which were built in place of the old paddling pool.

The Town Council has ensured their staff have received refresher training and the mechanisms for the water features have been serviced in readiness for the new season.

Helen Ball, Town Clerk for Shrewsbury Town Council, said: “Many people have been eagerly awaiting the reopening of the Splash Park in the Quarry.  With the good weather over the Easter break, the anticipation has been increasing on a daily basis.  We are pleased that our exciting addition to the Quarry has become a popular feature as part of the facilities on offer in the Quarry Park. We’re just hoping for some good weather this weekend.”
