Posh Frocks, a Hive, an Ark and a Dwarf….

Posh frocks, a hive, an ark and a dwarf – no this isn’t a screenplay for the strangest film ever, but the ingredients for fun and fundraising in aid of the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s Charity Fund.

Councillor Beverley Baker, patron of the arts, is hosting two events during October in aid of her nominated charities; The Hive and Shrewsbury Ark.

On October 5, members of the public are invited to attend the launch of a new comic play for radio, Eric the Dwarf, produced by the Mayor.

The evening will include an interview with the author, Tim Baker, the Mayor’s Consort, live performed excerpts and music.

Tickets are priced at £5 to include a glass of wine or soft drink and nibbles.

The event takes place at The Hive, Belmont, from 7-9pm.

Then, on October 11, the Mayor invites members of the public to join her at a Charity Ball event, Posh Frocks Rock, at the Masonic Lodge, St Michael’s Street.

Tickets for the black tie event are priced at £27.50 to include canapés on arrival, a hot buffet and music from Dress Down Fridays. There will also be a raffle in aid of the Mayor’s charities.

The event will start at 7.30pm with last carriages at midnight.

Tickets for both events are available from Carol Pullen, Mayor’s Secretary, on 01743 257655 or email carol.pullen-stc@shropshire.gov.uk . Cheques should be made payable to the Mayor’s Charity Fund.

Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Beverley Baker said: “Team Eric have been working hard to ensure the launch evening is full of well, er, um, er, er …. Who knows! I mean there will be music, great acting, deep and meaningful interviews, and peanut butter sandwiches!

“Follow this with an evening of live music, good food, and lots of posh frocks, looks like I’m in for an exciting couple of weeks!”
