Mobility Business Expands

A Shrewsbury business that specialises in products to improve quality of life and independence for people with mobility problems has celebrated its second anniversary trading at the town’s Market Hall.

Mobility Homecare, run by Martin Maley, opened in November 2009 with a small stock of around 30 products.

Today the business is thriving, offering more than 150 different items, and has recently expanded taking on more floor space within the canopied section of the market.

The extra space means that customers can now try out a larger range of products including a profiling bed, high back chairs, rise and recline chairs and walking aids. A demonstration stair-lift is also planned for the near future.

The extended product line is in addition to all previously stocked items including scooters, wheelchairs, walking sticks, cushions, commodes and more.

Mr Maley, who has prior experience working in healthcare quality and product management said: “From starting here in November 2009, during a recession, the business has gone from strength to strength. We now carry more than one hundred different items to help make people’s lives a little easier and give them more independence. Prices start from just 75 pence.

“The low overheads at the Market Hall mean I have always been able to be very competitive on pricing. My policy has always been where possible to let people handle the products and try them before buying. ”

Mr Maley also warned against rogue traders who pray on the vulnerability of their customers.

“I would like to educate everyone to be more vigilant when called upon by trained sales people operating nationally on high commission bonuses – what can seem like a good offer or saving at the time is not always competitive. Mobility Homecare always quote our best price. If customers have been given a quote for a product elsewhere they can check it with me to see if it is sensible. ”

Mobility Homecare is a member of the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Trader Register and the Fix a Home approved trader scheme for Dudley.
