Music Acts Sought to Help Shrewsbury’s Festive Event

Music acts and choirs are being sought to help Shrewsbury celebrate the annual Christmas lights switch-on.

This year’s Christmas Cracker event, which marks the launch of the town’s annual Christmas lights and the start of festive late night shopping, is being organised by Shrewsbury Town Council in partnership with Shrewsbury Shopping Centres and is sponsored by Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID).

The event will take place on November 14, from 5pm until 7.30pm.

It will be an evening of festive fun for all ages with musical entertainment around the town, special guests and the ever-popular lantern parade starting the proceedings.

Helen Ball, town clerk for Shrewsbury Town Council, said: “Even though we’re coming to the end of summer, we’ve been getting ready for the festive season for a couple of months now and our plans for the event are in hand.  This is a great opportunity for local musicians and choirs to get involved in the town’s festivities and help residents and visitors enjoy the build-up to the forthcoming Christmas period. We would love to hear from anyone who would like to take part.”

To take part in the annual Christmas Cracker event, musical acts must be available to perform on November 14 between 5pm and 7.30pm. Time slots and locations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

To register for the event, please e-mail hilary.humphries@shrewsburytowncouncil.gov.uk or call 01743 257649. Registrations must be received by October 28.
