Mayor Saddles Up For Tandem Bike Ride

The Mayor of Shrewsbury is set to mark his 65th birthday with a difference as he prepares to saddle up for a charity tandem bike ride.

Councillor Miles Kenny and Mayor’s Officer Robert Handley will ride from Shrewsbury to Lake Vyrnwy and back – 65 miles – to raise funds for the Mayor’s chosen charities; Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and The Shrewsbury Ark on October 4.

Councillor Kenny said: “Riding a bike is one thing, but riding a tandem is a new challenge. Bob, the Mayor’s Officer and I, are out training so we will be ready on October 4 to cycle the 65 miles to Lake Vyrnwy and back. Support is coming in including sponsorship from Sainsbury’s and Stan’s Cycles and I hope as many people as possible will sponsor us please.”

The Shrewsbury Ark is operated by the Shrewsbury Christian Association (SCCA) and provides a safe haven in the heart of the town, providing practical and emotional support for those in need or distress.
