Mayor’s Charity Concert Promises to Hit the High Note

There are just a few days remaining to snap up tickets to the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s charity concert of ‘over 100 voices and brass.’

The event takes place on Saturday, kicking off at 7pm, at St Chad’s Church and will feature an exciting line-up including Shrewsbury Brass Band (formerly Sabrina Brass), the Friday Singers, Shropshire Girls’ Choir and Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir.

All monies raised will be split equally between the Mayor’s Charity Fund and the St Chad’s Campaign.

Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Tony Durnell said: “We had offers from some of the individual acts wanting to do something for our Mayor’s Charity so we thought why not bring them all together for an evening of voices and brass. We chose to donate half of the funds to St Chad’s as it is our civic church and we cannot allow it to fall into disrepair.”

David Tudor, development director at St Chad’s added: “We are delighted to be hosting the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s charity concert. This promises to be a really exciting event with music to appeal to people of all ages and tastes.

“St Chad’s has a seating capacity of over 1,000, is acoustically excellent and, as such, is perhaps one of the best indoor concert venues in Shropshire.

“The concert will raise funds both for the Mayor’s charity and also for the St Chad’s Campaign and we are extremely grateful to the Mayor for including St Chad’s in his fundraising efforts during his year.”

Concert tickets are priced at £10 for adults, free for under 16s, and are available until Friday from the Mayor’s Secretary on 01743 257655 or email carol.pullen-stc@shropshire.gov.uk

Tickets are also available from St Chad’s in advance, or on the door.
