Mayor Impressed by Artistic Skills

The winners of Shrewsbury Town Council’s colouring competition, held at last month’s Flower Show, have been announced.

First prize in the under seven’s category went to five-year-old Anastasia Burrows, from Shrewsbury, with the top spot in the over seven’s category going to 11-year-old George Gouldbourn from Milton Keynes.

Entries were judged by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Keith Roberts who selected each winner based on their use of colour and design. “I was most impressed with the standard of entries,” said Councillor Roberts.

“It was extremely difficult to pick just two winners but both Anastasia and George’s designs stood out. Well done to both of them.”

The winners will receive Waterstones book tokens.

The Mayor has also revealed the winner of his Shrewsbury Streets & Places quiz as Bev Dyer, from Sutton Farm, Shrewsbury.

Mrs Dyer was one of five entrants who got 29 out of 30 questions correct and her name was pulled out of the hat at Mayor’s Charity Flower Show Luncheon.

Mrs Dyer won a £50 cash prize with the quiz raising more than £200 for the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
