Market Traders Call it a Day After 45 Years

A husband and wife team who have been trading at Shrewsbury Market Hall for more than four decades have packed up their stall for the final time.

Hira and Veena Midda, who own Midda Hoisery, called it a day on Wednesday [March 30] after 45 years in order to enjoy their twilight years.

Fellow traders marked the occasion by holding a farewell party for the couple and presented them with gardening vouchers to help kick-start their retirement.

Mr Midda said: “We would like to thank our customers for their on-going support over the last 45 years.”

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the Market Hall said the couple would be greatly missed.

“We are very sad to be saying goodbye to one of our longest standing and most prized stalls. Hira and Veena will be greatly missed and we all wish them well for the future.”
