Jubilee Celebrations at Market Hall

Shoppers and traders at Shrewsbury Market Hall will be getting into the spirit of the Jubilee celebrations with some patriotic face-painting this weekend.

Artist Annaliese Powell, 23, from the Shawbury Village Players, will be at the market on Saturday offering face-painting and temporary tattoos from 10-12pm and nail painting from 1-3pm.

The event has been organised by Lily’s House. Donations to Shawbury Village Players.

As well as face-painting, free drop-in workshop sessions to make the ‘crown jewels’ are being held by Compost Kids throughout the day and there is a chance to win an extra special prize by taking part in a crown treasure hunt which runs from Saturday, until June 9th.

Shoppers can also enter a raffle to win a jubilee-themed cake in aid of Shropshire Carers Appeal.

Kate Gittins, site facilities manager at the market said: “We’ve already had such an exciting week with the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Shrewsbury, and our links to one of the torch bearers who works in the market. We’ll be continuing the celebrations over the Jubilee weekend with a number of events and activities so come along and join in the fun!”
