Join the Mayor for Party in the Park

Members of the public are invited to attend a Party in the (Quarry) Park which is being organised by the town’s Mayor.

Councillor Ioan Jones, who took office in May, will be hosting the event on July 3 between 1-4pm.

There will be no admittance charge but there will be a collection in aid of the Mayor’s Charity Fund which is aiming to raise enough money to purchase a defibrillator for each of Shrewsbury’s secondary schools and colleges.

There will be a number of activities taking place on the day including a bouncy castle, inflatable slide, face-painting and children’s rides.

The City of Chester Band will also be performing at the Bandstand from 1pm until 3pm.

People are invited to bring their own picnics, blankets and chairs to soak up the atmosphere in the picturesque surroundings of the Quarry.

Mayor Councillor Jones said: “I hope as many residents as possible will attend and make this a fantastic display of Shrewsbury coming together, with the opportunity to meet the Mayor and incorporate my three main objectives for the mayoral year; inclusion, tolerance and understanding.”
The Mayor will also be hosting a Summer Lunch on August 14, following the Shrewsbury Flower Show.

The event will be held in the Member’s Marquee at the Quarry, by kind permission of the Shropshire Horticultural Society, and will begin at 12.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £25 and are available from Carol Pullen, Mayor’s Secretary, on 01743 257655 or email carol.pullen-stc@shropshire.gov.uk

All proceeds go to the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
