Invitation to Tender – Shrewsbury Town Centre Rangers

Invitation to Tender - Shrewsbury Town Centre Rangers

Whilst crime levels are generally low in Shrewsbury, there is an increasing concern about low level anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

As the country came out of Lockdown last year, both Shrewsbury Town Council and the Business Improvement District [BID] reported an increase in anti-social behaviour in the town centre and the Quarry, with both organisations appointing security contractors to minimise the impact on businesses, property and residents.

This year, Shrewsbury Town Council, Shrewsbury Business Improvement District & Shropshire Council have joined forces to explore the development of a Town Centre Ranger Scheme with the primary aim of reducing anti-social behaviour and contributing to a safer, welcoming and more successful Shrewsbury.

Companies are invited to submit a tender for the provision of Town Ranger services within the Shrewsbury loop and Quarry.

Stuart Farmer, projects manager for the Town Council, said: “We have looked at similar schemes in other parts of the country, and with the positive feedback we have received, we feel that Town Centre Rangers for Shrewsbury will provide a great benefit for the town and will enable people to get the most out of the visitor experience in a safe and secure environment.

“The successful company will provide a visible and recognised presence in the town centre and will work closely with our Team Shrewsbury partners to ensure that issues are addressed swiftly and provide an increased level of confidence for residents, businesses and visitors.”

Closing date for submissions is 1pm April, 29.
