Investment & Development Plan Will Shape Future of Council

Shrewsbury Town Council has established a working party to manage the creation of an Investment and Development Plan (IDP) which it says will provide a framework for its future progression.

Members unanimously supported a motion at a meeting held in June to create the IDP which will look to consolidate, improve and extend the Council’s service over the next three to five years.

A working party will begin by making recommendations on the best way for evaluating resources and consulting with residents, staff and stakeholders. It will also aim to identify the various needs of the Council and the town, including its own accommodation, as well as identifying new opportunities for growth.

It is hoped initial work, including drawing up full terms of reference and recommending a budget for the plan, will be completed by October.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Alan Mosley said: “The quality of work done by our staff is renowned throughout the sector and we believe it is now time to establish plans for future developments. We will be assessing our assets, consulting widely and reviewing opportunities for improving and extending the facilities and services we provide for all who live, work and visit Shrewsbury.

“The IDP will be a valuable tool to guide us in moving forward, offering a secure and progressive future for residents, staff, stakeholders and visitors and will be based on our clear objectives in putting Shrewsbury first. “
