Have Your Say on Town’s Future

Shrewsbury residents will have the chance to help shape the future of the town at a meeting being held next week.

The next Shrewsbury-wide Local Joint Committee (LJC) takes place in the Council Chamber at the Guildhall on Tuesday [DEC 2], from 7pm.

The session will include a workshop to identify and discuss priorities for inclusion in the 2015 Place Plan. Also on the agenda is swimming in Shrewsbury, as well as an update and discussion regarding youth commissioning. The Police will also be presenting and discussing a report.

All Shrewsbury residents are invited to attend. Shrewsbury’s Place Plan is designed to identify the needs, and set priorities, for the town. Then the Town Council will work alongside Shropshire Council, and other partners, as well as the local communities, to focus on those priorities.

Some of the identified projects will be funded through existing council budgets, while it is hoped that money received from new developments across the town will also begin to provide new facilities for any new homes built.

Local Councillors play a critical role in this work as they are closest to their local residents and see at first-hand what is required.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Alan Mosley said: “Shrewsbury Town Council plays a very active role in shaping developments across the town. We have developed a reputation for providing good quality facilities and this process ensures that we can direct resources where it is needed the most. Through the LJC all residents will also have the opportunity to have their say in developing our priorities for the future throughout the town.”
