Have a Ball for Charity

People in Shrewsbury are invited to have a ball while raising funds for two local good causes.

Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Miles Kenny, will host a charity ball later this month in aid of his two nominated charities; The Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and The Shrewsbury Ark.

The event takes place at the Lord Hill Hotel on January 22 from 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £35 and include a glass of prosecco on arrival, three course dinner and entertainment provided by Hannah & Brian & The Lord Hill resident DJ.

There will also be a raffle in aid of the Mayor’s charities.

Lingen Davies is a local charity committed to improving cancer services for the relief of cancer patients in Shropshire and Mid Wales, through the provision of specialist equipment and buildings. Over the years the charity has invested millions to improve the facilities for local cancer patients.

The Shrewsbury Ark is operated by the Shrewsbury Christian Association (SCCA) and provides a safe haven in the heart of the town, providing practical and emotional support for those in need or distress.

Councillor Kenny said: “It’s going to be a great evening, more than enough cheer to dispel the winter gloom and all for two really good local causes – The Lingen Davies Appeal for a new state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator and for the Ark who do so much for the homeless and vulnerable. Ticket sales are going sales are going really well so best to act quickly to avoid disappointment.”

Tickets are available from the Mayor’s Secretary, Carol Pullen, on 01743 257655 or email carol.pullen-stc@shropshire.gov.uk. Cheques should be made payable to the Mayor’s Charity Fund.
