‘Fun’-draising Events at Shrewsbury Market Hall

Traders at Shrewsbury Market Hall will be putting the ‘fun’ in fundraising next week in aid of the BBC’s Children in Need campaign.

The action kicks-off on Saturday [NOV 9] at 1.30pm when Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Jon Tandy, officially launches a feast of family entertainment to help raise money for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Activities will run throughout the week, until November 16, and will include; Hunt the Pudsey – find all 21 hidden Pudsey’s around the market for a chance to win a £20 voucher; Guess the number of sweets in the jar at L&E Designs; Velveteen Me gift box raffle; Win a Chocolate Tasting for 6 people at Shropshire Chocolates; Pudsey bingo at Mirage Mezze; food tasting at John Bliss Butchers and Win a Scooter ‘Cuda’ raffle at Urban Bikes.

Traders will also be encouraging shoppers to help fill a Smartie tube – each participating stall will have an empty tube to fill with £1 coins.

On November 15, there will be live music from the A49ers and Fender Bender who will be performing throughout the day on the gallery level of the market.

There will also be face painting at L&E Designs on November 15 and 16. Pengwern Books will be donating the proceeds from the sale of all children’s books made on the day of the live appeal on November 15.

The week’s activities come to a crescendo on November 16 when the Mayor will return to the Market Hall to draw the various raffles.

Calypso Nails will also be holding a Nail Art Workshop with all proceeds to Children in Need.

Last year, Children in Need raised £26.7million during the live show on BBC1. The campaign, which is now in its 34th year, provides grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged.
