Dingle Donation from Shropshire Creative Agency

Spring visitors to the Dingle in Shrewsbury’s Quarry will be treated to a new bloom of flowers thanks to a Shropshire Creative Agency.

Clear, based in Shrewsbury, is carrying out 15 ‘random acts of kindness’ to celebrate 15 successful years of business, and chose the Dingle as one of the recipients.  Last month, three members of the team used their green fingers and worked with Mark Bowen, who is responsible for looking after the Quarry, to install and plant the new feature.

In March 2017, Clear turned 15 and to celebrate, they decided to give something back to the community as a way of saying thanks for everything that has been achieved in that period. The planting in the Dingle is the penultimate random act of kindness before a raffle and wrap-up party on their 16th birthday.

As a creative agency, they planted pansies and polyanthus in blue and white (the colours of the agency), interspersed with plenty of evergreen firs, ivy and euonymus plants. The bed can be seen in the Dingle, near to the north fountain where Sabrina is sited.

Gavin Mills, managing director of the company, said: “We have tried to complete a wide range of charitable acts, from donating food to animal rescue centres to cooking for the homeless. We wanted to get involved in some form of environmental donation and, as the Clear offices are based on Town Walls just five minutes from the Quarry, we thought something in that area would mean we would get the benefit of seeing it too!

“Our staff are regulars at the Quarry during their lunchbreaks, so everyone has been asked to have a wander and take pictures of it as the plants grow.”

Kevin Llewellyn, a designer for the agency, said: “It was so lovely to be involved. It got us out of the office for a few hours doing something a bit different and, being a designer, I loved designing and digging the bed. We could have just made a donation, but it was more special to be involved in making it too.”

Mark Bowen, Shrewsbury Town Council’s amenity space team leader, said “The team did a brilliant job and we have had people remark how nice it is already.”

The digging was done by Kevin Llewellyn, Chris Griffiths, and Greg Bullock – members of the design and development team at Clear.
