Chance to Experience Historical Event from Shrewsbury Castle

Fifteen lucky couples will have the chance to attend a special event at Shrewsbury Castle as part of celebrations to mark the passing of the Olympic torch through the town.

A competition is being held by the Mayor elect of Shrewsbury, Councillor Keith Roberts, to join him for lunch within the castle grounds on May 30.

The event is limited to just 150 VIP invited guests.

Councillor Roberts, who takes office as Mayor on May 14, said: “The passing of the Olympic flame through Shrewsbury will be a truly historic event and we are looking forward to welcoming our 15 couples to help celebrate the occasion at Shrewsbury Castle. We hope as many people as possible turn out on the day to line the town’s streets to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event.”

To be in with a chance of winning tickets to the VIP luncheon entrants should send their name, address and telephone number on a postcard to: Olympic Lunch Competition, Shrewsbury Town Council, Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, SY3 8HR.

The closing date for entries is May 4.

The first 15 entries selected at random will win two tickets to the event.

The Town Clerk’s decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
