Chance to Design Mayor’s Christmas Card

School children in Shrewsbury will have to be quick on the draw as the town’s Mayor is searching for a budding artist to design her annual Christmas card.

One talented youngster will have their design turned into a real card which will be the official Mayor’s Christmas card for this year.

As well as having their design produced into actual cards, the overall winner will also receive a book token and a set of cards for their own use.

The competition is open to Shrewsbury school children from Year 5 to Year 9.

The design theme is Christmas in Shrewsbury and entries must be submitted on A5 paper, either landscape or portrait. The card should be creative but glitter, or any other protruding items, should not be used.

Designs should be submitted to: Christmas Card Competition, The Mayor’s Parlour, The Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, SY3 8HR.

Entries must include the entrants name, address and school on the reverse of the design and should be received no later than October 24.

Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Beverley Baker said: “This is really exciting, I’ve never had a Christmas card designed for me before! I’m looking forward to seeing all the ideas and am preparing myself for a difficult decision as we have so much creative talent out there.”
