Cast your Vote to Crown your Market Trader of the Year

Following January’s success when Shrewsbury Market Hall was crowned Britain’s Favourite Market, shoppers are being asked to cast their vote to find the Market Trader of the Year for 2018.

People visiting the indoor market before April 20 can nominate their favourite trader to win a Mayor of Shrewsbury Award.

The trader with the most votes will be presented with a trophy at the annual Mayor’s Awards ceremony on May 9.

Since the inception of the award for Market Trader of the Year in 2014, previous winners have been The Market Buffet in both 2014 and 2017, Amess Brothers fruit & vegetable stall in 2015 and Café Aleoli in 2016.

Nomination forms are available in the market and in true election style, completed forms should be deposited in the ballot box provided.

Duplicate entries will not be counted.

Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Jane Mackenzie said: “With such a great choice of businesses in the Market Hall, it won’t be an easy decision to pick a favourite.  With Shrewsbury Market Hall crowned Britain’s Favourite Market, I would urge everyone to cast their vote for their Favourite Market Trader.

Mike Cox, outdoor and recreation manager for Shrewsbury Town Council, added: “Trader of the Year is a fantastic way to celebrate all of the wonderful businesses we have here in the market. There’s always tough competition for the top spot so every vote really does count!”
