Carols in the Square Concert Returns

Shrewsbury’s annual Carols in the Square concert will return next week.

The event, which is a hugely popular attraction in Shrewsbury’s festive calendar, takes place next Wednesday [DEC 17] from 5.30pm in the town’s Square.

There will be music for all the family with performances from Shrewsbury Brass Band, Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir and Lorna Crosse with the Young Performers’ Choir.

Shrewsbury Town Council is managing the concert, which will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Shropshire from 6.05pm until 7pm.

The evening will be hosted by radio presenter Eric Smith, who is currently appearing in pantomime Peter Pan at Theatre Severn.

The concert will also be screened live via webcast by Shrewsbury-based company, Microvideo, at http://live.shrewsburysquare.com/

There will be free parking from 4pm at Abbey Foregate, St Julian’s Friars & Frankwell Main Long Stay Car Parks only and the Park & Ride service will be extended until 9pm.

Helen Ball, Town Clerk said: “We are delighted to be bringing the popular Carols in the Square concert back for another year. This has always been a special event in Shrewsbury’s calendar, it’s a great opportunity for getting together for an informal sing-a-long and there will be song sheets for everyone so there’s no excuse not to join in.”
