Awards will Honour Town’s Unsung Heroes

Nominations are being sought to celebrate those unsung heroes who have made an outstanding contribution to the town of Shrewsbury.

The Mayor, Councillor Beverley Baker, is asking businesses, organisations and residents to make submissions for Shrewsbury’s annual civic awards, designed to highlight those who have gone above and beyond for the benefit of the town.

Nominations are invited in a range of categories, which will then be whittled down in true Oscar style to a shortlist, with the winners revealed on April 22 at the town’s Guildhall.

  •  There is one category open to all entrants.

In addition to these six categories, which will be judged by a panel of members and officers of the Town Council, the Mayor will also present her special Commendation Awards. These are awards that are personal to the Mayor, presented to people she has met throughout the Mayoral Year that have played a key part in helping make Shrewsbury a special place to live and work.

Councillor Baker said: “Every year the Mayor’s Awards recognise those who come from all areas of the town contributing in so many different ways. It’s lovely to hear from anyone who believes someone deserves to be recognised in this way and we hope to have a variety of nominations for all categories.”

Nomination forms are available to download here or for a hard copy contact the Mayor’s Secretary on 01743 257655 or email carol.pullen-stc@shropshire.gov.uk

The closing date for completed entries is March 20.
