Artists Invited to Display Work at Shrewsbury’s Quarry

Local artists are invited to take part in a series of outdoor exhibitions at Shrewsbury’s Quarry.

The exhibits run each Sunday from May 15 to September 4, from 2.30pm until 5.30pm, excluding June 19 (Olympian Festival) and August 14 (Shrewsbury Flower Show).

Artists are able to display work around the perimeter of the Dingle and to also carry out painting demonstrations.

Sale of artwork is also permitted.

The scheme is run by Shrewsbury Town Council.

Artists can display their work free of charge and can simply turn up on the day.

Spaces cannot be guaranteed and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Cars are not permitted on site so artists should make alternative arrangements for getting items into the Quarry. Special permits may be granted, depending on circumstances, and can be requested from the Town Council.

Mike Cox, Outdoor Recreation & Asset Manager for Shrewsbury Town Council said: “Every year the Quarry hosts an Art Exhibition which gives local artists the opportunity to demonstrate and display their skills. The Dingle is a popular tourist attraction during the summer and is an ideal backdrop for displays.”
