Artists Invited to Display Work at Shrewsbury Quarry

Local artists are invited to take part in a series of outdoor exhibitions at Shrewsbury’s Quarry.

The exhibition scheme, run by Shrewsbury Town Council, will run each Sunday from May 13 to September 2, from 2.30pm until 5.30pm, excluding July 8 (Quarry Concert weekend) and August 12 (Shrewsbury Flower Show).

Demonstrations and paintings can be displayed around the perimeter of the Dingle, which is a popular tourist attraction during the summer and is an ideal backdrop for displays.

Sale of artwork is also permitted.

Artists can display their work free of charge and can simply turn up on the day, however spaces cannot be guaranteed and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Cars are not permitted on site so artists should make alternative arrangements for getting items into the Quarry.

Special permits may be granted, depending on circumstances, and can be requested from the Town Council.

Mike Cox, Outdoor Recreation & Asset Manager for Shrewsbury Town Council said: “Every year the Town Council runs an exhibition scheme which gives local artists the rare opportunity to demonstrate and display their skills in the scenic surroundings of the Quarry and Dingle which attracts many visitors during the spring and summer months.”
