Amended Date for Annual Town Meeting

The date for Shrewsbury’s Annual Town Meeting has been changed to avoid a conflict with the European Parliamentary Elections.

It will now be held on May 19 from 7pm in the Council Chamber at the Guildhall.

The Annual Town Meeting is open to residents who live within the council’s 17 wards and provides a chance to raise questions on matters affecting the town of Shrewsbury, and learn of the work undertaken by councillors over the last twelve months.

In addition to receiving updates on the work of the Town Council, the meeting will also provide an opportunity to hear from the local policing team and to find out more about the future of the Local Joint Committees.

Town Clerk, Helen Ball said: “The Annual Town Meeting is an opportunity to see local government in action and hold your local council to account. It is a chance for residents to meet with councillors and raise any issues, no matter how large or small. By working together we can hopefully resolve them and help make Shrewsbury an even better place to live, work and visit.”
