Shrewsbury Town Council held its first virtual Council meeting on Monday evening [May18] after new regulations were put in place to allow meetings to be held electronically. 

On behalf of the Councillors of Shrewsbury I would like to send our very best wishes to you all in our 6th week of lockdown.

I think it is fair to say 2020 has, so far, been our Annus Horribilis. 

With a closing date of March 20, there’s still time to submit your nominations for the annual Mayor of Shrewsbury Awards to acknowledge those unsung heroes who have made an outstanding contribution to the town.

As Coronavirus is set to impact on our daily lives, Members of the Town Council have been extremely heartened by the grassroots support in local communities. Many are co-ordinating volunteers to help those most vulnerable in our society to get through the weeks ahead.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Phil Gillam, is asking businesses, organisations and residents to make nominations for the town’s annual civic awards.
