Organiser's Hail Flying Santa Visit a Huge Success

Organisers have hailed a special Christmas event - which saw Santa arrive in Shrewsbury's Quarry with style, via a helicopter from the Defence Helicopter Flying School based at RAF Shawbury - a huge success.

Father Christmas visited Shrewsbury earlier than usual and stopped in for a flying visit on December 11.

He landed at 11.30am precisely and was greeted by the town's Mayor, Councillor Kath Owen, before being whisked off to the indoor Market Hall where dozens of children visited Santa in his grotto.

Re-Launch to Showcase Jewellery

A popular Shrewsbury jewellery maker who trades at the town's indoor Market Hall has re-launched her business with a new name and website to showcase her range of handcrafted jewellery.

The Little Jewellery Corner, owned and run by Charlotte Jones, from Ford, will now be known as Charlotte Anne Designs.

Shoppers May Take Home More Than Bear Neccessities at Market Hall

Shoppers visiting Shrewsbury's indoor Market Hall this week may come home with more than just the bear necessities if they enter a festive competition to raise funds for charity.

The Market Hall, in conjunction with Shrewsbury Town Council which runs the canopied section of the shopping venue, is asking members of the public to make a £1 donation to this year's chosen Mayoral charity, the Severn Hospice, in exchange for a chance to guess the name of the teddy bear.

Raising Funds for Charity is a Piece of Cake

Shoppers who visit Shrewsbury's indoor Market Hall will be able to help decorate a giant Christmas cake in aid of Help for Heroes this week.

The six foot traditional fruit cake, which is being made by local baker Theresa Tauchie, will arrive at the venue on December 15.

The cake will be sectioned off into 64 portions and members of the public are invited to decorate a square using a range of tools on site, free of charge, which will include sugar stars, mini fudge chunks and jelly drops.

Santa's Flying Visit to Shrewsbury

Forget the sleigh, this year Santa arrives in Shrewsbury with style - via a helicopter from the Defence Helicopter Flying School based at RAF Shawbury.

Santa will visit the town earlier than usual, arriving for a flying visit on December 11.

Father Christmas will swap his flying reindeer for the helicopter for one day only and will land in the Quarry at approximately 11.30am where he will be met by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Kath Owen.

Next he will travel to the town's Market Hall via sleigh ride, thanks to Shrewsbury Lions Club.
