This Sunday sees Shrewsbury’s civic leaders marking the 79th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Shrewsbury has once again shown that it is blooming marvellous by scooping Gold in the annual Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Heart of England in Bloom competition.

More than 80 people attended the Mayor of Shrewsbury’s annual charity luncheon last weekend helping to raise funds for his chosen local charity, Samaritans of Shrewsbury.

With the final preparations completed around the town, Shrewsbury has welcomed the Heart of England in Bloom judges today [TUES].

The Mayor of Shrewsbury is hosting a charity Summer Lunch in the Quarry Park and would like members of the public to join him for the event.

For those shops and businesses who have not yet purchased their hanging baskets from either Shrewsbury Town Council or Shrewsbury BID, there is still a chance to purchase one for their business premises.

Although the weather hasn’t been wonderful this month, the flower beds and planters are starting to provide some much-needed colour around the town, now that Shrewsbury Town Council has almost completed its summer planting scheme.

It’s the last call for members of the public to nominate their green-fingered neighbours for this year’s Shrewsbury in Bloom Town of Flowers competition.

Shrewsbury Town Council provides a Grant Scheme to help local organisations and encourages them to apply for funding to help them achieve their aims and objectives.

The Shrewsbury in Bloom Committee is inviting members of the public to nominate their green-fingered neighbours for this year’s Town of Flowers competition.

A new sponsor has been unveiled at a prime site in the town as part of Shrewsbury in Bloom’s scheme to maintain its reputation as the “Town of Flowers”.

Generous gardeners attending the Shrewsbury in Bloom Greenhouse Open Evening at the end of last month helped to raise a fantastic £315.00 for the Lingen Davies Ruby Appeal.
