Whilst the Town Council does not object to proposals to enhance and extend a residential property, Members fully support the comments made by Shropshire Council’s Conservation Officer that the proposed two storey side extension would have a detrimental impact on the existing street scene adjacent to the Shrewsbury Conservation Area (Cherry Orchard Special Character Area). Members would like to see revised plans submitted that take account of the recommendations made by Shropshire Council’s Conservation Officer in what is a highly visible area of Monkmoor…….On 12.05.2020 the Town Council notes the revised plans for this property and whilst some concerns have been addressed, Members object to this planning application on the following grounds: • The proposals for a large flat-roofed rear dormer window at the rear of the property will still provide a dominant feature in the area and will have a detrimental impact on the visual amenity of the houses in the Shrewsbury Conservation Area (Cherry Orchard Special Character Area). • Members would like to see revised plans submitted so that any proposals will better reflect the visual impact, character and appearance of the Conservation Area.
