Members strongly object to the removal of this beautiful specimen tree which has huge amenity value in the street scene. The Town Council cannot support the felling of a seemingly healthy specimen and questions whether the tree could be crown reduced rather than felled. Members would therefore respectfully request that this application be referred to Shropshire Council’s tree officer to make a site visit so that it’s context can be reviewed. NB. Since the meeting the application was withdrawn and permission was granted to fell the tree under exemption rules due to Health & Safety concerns following significant damage to its leading branch in recent storms.
