The Town Council currently has vacancies for the following roles:




SCP 14 - 17 – (£16,231 - £17,372) Pro Rata 20 hours per week (over five days)

We are looking for two enthusiastic and capable people to provide administrative assistance within a busy office.  One post will cover mornings and one will cover afternoons.

You must have good interpersonal & ICT skills and have an ability to work on your own initiative.  Experience of administrative work within local government would be useful.  Must be able to work evenings and weekends when required.

Closing Date midday Friday 10th March 2017.

SCP18-21   Fixed Term Post

As part of an exciting new initiative we are appointing a Neighbourhood Warden to help ensure the highest possible environmental and street scene standards in our neighbourhoods. 

The successful applicant will undertake a range of environmental maintenance work in the various wards of Shrewsbury, providing an enhanced and responsive level of service, help enforce low-level public protection measures, encouraging the public to maintain their public realm and generally work closely with their local council members, residents and other partners.

You will need initiative, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards

A clean driving licence essential for this post.

Previous experience in street scene and grounds maintenance is preferred but not essential.

All training on the use of council equipment will be provided as will uniform and necessary PPE.

Full Time Permanent Operative SCP 14-21 (£16,231- £19,742 Depending on experience)

We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to add to our Team and work across all areas including open space, play, recreation grounds and school grounds:

You will be an all-rounder with experience of working in a similar Grounds Maintenance Team, looking after open space, play, sports facilities, school grounds and countryside.  Experience of using machinery & horticultural equipment including ride-on mowers together with Full UK Driving & Trailer Licences essential.

Pay £129.50 per week (Based on pay for a 16 year old on 37-hour week)

We are looking for an Apprentice to join our busy Grounds Maintenance Team on a 2-year fixed contract.  There will be a requirement to attend college one day a week.

You will learn all aspects of amenity horticulture including floral bedding, maintenance of public open space, shrub/rose-bed management and maintenance of recreational and sporting facilities. 

If you have an attention to detail, enthusiasm, are self-motivated with a desire to achieve high standards and can work in a close-knit team you may be just what we are looking for.

A uniform and relevant training will be provided.
