International Men’s Day

Shrewsbury Town Council is proud to support International Men’s Day UK, raising awareness of men’s health, mental wellbeing, and the positive role men play in our community. The UK campaign is coordinated by the Association for Male Health and Wellbeing via the website UKMensDay.org.uk.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Alex Wagner said:

On this International Men’s Day, we honour the many contributions that men and boys make to our town — as fathers, brothers, carers, friends, and colleagues. We also recognise the challenges too many face in silence: from mental health struggles to loneliness and pressure. Shrewsbury Town Council stands with every man who needs support, and we encourage open, compassionate conversations about wellbeing and resilience.”

International Men’s Day UK highlights three core themes: making a positive difference to the wellbeing of men and boys; raising awareness and funds for men’s charities; and promoting a positive, inclusive conversation about masculinity.

As part of this day, Shrewsbury Town Council encourages local individuals and organisations to get involved — whether through events, discussions, or simply taking time to reach out to the men in their lives.
