Shrewsbury Big Town Plan
The Shrewsbury Big Town Plan is a bold, long‑term partnership initiative led by Shropshire Council, Shrewsbury BID and Shrewsbury Town Council, working together with local businesses, organisations and residents to shape the future of Shrewsbury.
Our Vision
The Plan sets out a collective vision to evolve Shrewsbury for the good of everyone — ambitious and bold, the aim is to reshape the physical public realm and deliver an outstanding public experience, revolutionising movement around the town and attracting vital investment.
Our Themes & Goals
The Plan is organised around four key themes:
-
Creating Enterprise – nurturing business growth, supporting local trading, and ensuring Shrewsbury remains an attractive place for enterprise.
-
Rethinking Movement – improving how people move around and through Shrewsbury: better pedestrian spaces, cycle routes, traffic management and public realm enhancement.
-
Natural Shrewsbury – protecting and enhancing the natural environment, green spaces, biodiversity and the river‑town setting.
-
Vitality, Life & Mix – promoting the vitality of town centre life, creating a mix of uses (retail, leisure, culture, housing) and ensuring the town is lively, welcoming and sustainable.
