An Experimental Summer Smartphone Film Project

10 Second Films is a collaborative film project that aims to capture a constantly evolving portrait of Shrewsbury through hundreds of short video fragments.

The project explores the town through multiple perspectives, interests and motivations. Participants will create a collection of ten-second smartphone video clips that, when combined, form a continuously changing impression of Shrewsbury.

No single person directs the final film. Instead, the completed work is generated in real time through the random sequencing of all contributed video clips, creating a unique viewing experience every time.

Join the project this summer and help explore Shrewsbury through different eyes.

All footage will be captured using smartphone cameras.

Project Requirements

Participants should:

• Have access to a smartphone with a camera.
• Be willing to explore Shrewsbury visually and creatively.
• Be interested in contributing their own perspective on the town.

Filming Guidelines

The detailed filming rules and creative framework will be introduced and developed during the first session.

Before then, consider:

• How you might explore Shrewsbury in a personal and distinctive way.
• What interests, details, spaces, people, textures or stories attract your attention.
• How a series of ten-second clips might communicate your individual experience of the town.

For safety, all filming activities will be carried out in pairs.
