Our Countryside and Greenspace Team regularly organises monthly volunteering events across Shrewsbury’s countryside sites. These sessions provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals, community groups, and local businesses to get involved in meaningful environmental work while enjoying the outdoors.
Through the support of volunteers, we’re able to achieve vital large-scale conservation and maintenance projects. Earlier this year, volunteers from Enable joined us at Castle Walk to help remove invasive Himalayan Balsam, significantly improving the local habitat.
In 2025, our volunteering efforts have included:

Removing tree wraps at Monkmoor Meadows, helping young trees planted in 2020 to thrive.

Constructing protective cattle guards around saplings on Doctor’s Fields, ensuring the safe growth of new woodland areas.
Volunteering with our team is a great way to learn new skills, meet like-minded people, and make a positive impact on Shrewsbury’s natural environment.
