My name is Anton Goodwin, and I’m the Director of The Shrewsbury Ark, having taken up the role in March this year. I wanted to introduce myself and extend an invitation to visit the Ark to see some of the changes we’ve made recently.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to revise our approach and strengthen the support we offer to people experiencing homelessness and hardship in our town. This now includes a Lead Support Worker focused on mental health, offering dedicated one-to-one sessions, as well as a Lead for drug and alcohol support, helping clients navigate recovery and harm reduction services.
We’ve also launched a new Tenancy Readiness Programme designed to give people the knowledge, confidence and experience they need to succeed in a new home – and ultimately break the cycle of homelessness for good.
I’d be delighted to show you around, share more about the work we’re doing, and talk about how we can continue to work in partnership to support some of Shrewsbury’s most vulnerable residents.
