On the day there will be in the region of 200 serving personnel in and around the Town collecting money for the RBL’s poppy appeal. The core collection times are between 10.00 – 15.00. The main purpose of the event is to raise money. The event is being jointly organised by Shropshire Council and the Royal British Legion, it’s support by a whole range of organisations including military units and charities.
People who will attend the event are largely people who will already be in the town centre as they either live, work or are coming in for shopping purposes.
In the square there will be the RBL Bikers, Shrewsbury Brass Band and a number of gazebos. Vintage Military Vehicles will be on display in the Quarry Park.
There is no set time when the Mayor needs to leave. 12.00 is just a suggestion.
It’s anticipated that local radio and regional TV will be in attendance. They will be interviewing serving personnel, RBL beneficiaries and some official guests. Who they will interview will be firmed up closer to the time.
