This year Shrewsbury Morris are proudly celebrating 50 years of dancing in and around their home town.
Numerous special events and activities are taking place; some public, like dancing the Shrewsbury Monopoly Board and others just for the team eg. our delicious March Cake Competition!
On Saturday 4th July we are making a song and dance about our 50th year in The Square, Shrewsbury, with our Beat & Bells event. Running from 10.00-4.00 there will be a continuos programme of music, dance and song throughout the day featuring: Zulu Tradition, The Yeoman Singers, Green Man Morris, Septimus the Giant Shrewsbury Cobbler and of course Shrewsbury Morris. All free for everyone to watch and with helpful funding from Shrewsbury Town Council.
During June we are also running a Follow the Morris Bells Trail around the shop and business windows in the town centre. The winner is being announced at 12.00noon during Beat & Bells.
We wonder if it might be possible for the Mayor to be with us at 12.00noon, in The Square to announce the winner of the Follow the Morris Bells Trail and say a few kind words about Shrewsbury Morris?
We have often had the Mayor open our events in The Square when things are quiet in town, but we thought it might be nice this year to be there when the audience is bigger (we are hoping for sunshine) and just before Zulu Tradition perform?
