Town Council Calls for Review on Pedestrian Crossing

Shrewsbury Town Council is calling for an urgent review into a new central reservation on one of the town’s busiest roads.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Peter Nutting, asked members to consider action over the pedestrian crossing on Smithfield Road at a meeting of the full council last night. [MON]

Councillors agreed to ask Shropshire Council, which installed the crossing as part of the £1.8m Cycle Shrewsbury project, to consider a full review of its impact on cyclists, pedestrians and car users. Councillor Nutting said: “There seems to be a mixed view about the Smithfield Road refuge so what we are asking Shropshire Council to do is to carry out a full review that encompasses all users.”
